We were celebrating Scottish Housing Day and sketching ideas around the theme of &#8216;what home means to you.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Led by <a title=\"Visit Spectrum Arts.\" href=\"https:\/\/www.spectrumarts.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Spectrum Arts<\/a>, the group experimented with spray painting techniques on an indoor wall at Transgression Skatepark inside Ocean Terminal.<\/p>\n<p>Street art is a prominent feature in Leith and the young people used a water-based spray paint to practise different strokes and effects under the guidance of artist Craig Robertson.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.polha.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/GraffitiWorkshop12.jpg\" alt=\"Photo of girl drawing.\" width=\"600\" height=\"390\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The finished mural featured the word \u2018home\u2019 with planet Earth in the centre and brick buildings on each side. The young artists\u2019 ideas of what home meant to them included \u2018safety\u2019, \u2018Earth\u2019 and \u2018relaxation\u2019.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.polha.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/GraffitiWorkshop55.jpg\" alt=\"Photo of girl spray painting.\" width=\"600\" height=\"375\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Keith Anderson, Chief Executive of Port of Leith Housing Association, said:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe art created by our young tenants and members of the community is highly impressive. I particularly enjoyed the various approaches to the theme of \u2018What Home Means to You\u2019 and was pleased to hear that everyone taking part had great fun experimenting with this art form in Leith.<\/p>\n<p>Scottish Housing Day is all about bringing people together to celebrate the positive impact that high quality, affordable homes make to the lives of people and communities.
