{"id":7671,"date":"2024-07-12T16:14:49","date_gmt":"2024-07-12T15:14:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/harbour.scot\/homes\/?p=7671"},"modified":"2024-07-12T16:14:49","modified_gmt":"2024-07-12T15:14:49","slug":"supporting-our-tenants-funding-for-home-essentials","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/harbour.scot\/homes\/supporting-our-tenants-funding-for-home-essentials\/","title":{"rendered":"Supporting our tenants: funding for home essentials"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p-rich_text_section\">We have been working hard to support tenants with the high costs associated with moving into and running a home, through various initiatives.<\/p>\n<h5 class=\"p-rich_text_section\">Since April this year, Harbour Homes have:<\/h5>\n<ul class=\"p-rich_text_list p-rich_text_list__bullet\" data-stringify-type=\"unordered-list\" data-indent=\"0\" data-border=\"0\">\n<li data-stringify-indent=\"0\" data-stringify-border=\"0\">Invested \u00a330k in housing starter packs for new tenants to purchase high-quality used furniture from Four Square Edinburgh Initiative. Eligible tenants receive a voucher for up to \u00a3500 (the amount varies depending on what is needed) to choose their furniture and have it delivered for free. They may also purchase brand new items such as cot mattresses and bedding<\/li>\n<li data-stringify-indent=\"0\" data-stringify-border=\"0\">Secured funding of \u00a315k from the Turn2us Edinburgh Trust for tenants to access one-off grants for things like furniture, flooring and white goods, and to relieve the cost of living crisis<\/li>\n<li data-stringify-indent=\"0\" data-stringify-border=\"0\">Set up a carpeting\/flooring fund of \u00a36k for tenants who cannot otherwise afford floor coverings<\/li>\n<li data-stringify-indent=\"0\" data-stringify-border=\"0\">Allocated \u00a33k to a white goods\/washing machine fund for tenants<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>Fiona Whitelaw, Tenant Advice Team Leader:<\/h5>\n<blockquote class=\"c-mrkdwn__quote\" data-stringify-type=\"quote\"><p>\u201cWith the cost of living crisis showing little sign of abating and changes to the Scottish Welfare Fund, unfortunately many more of our tenants are finding it increasingly difficult to pay for essentials such as flooring, furniture and white goods.
