{"id":8027,"date":"2024-09-24T11:50:03","date_gmt":"2024-09-24T10:50:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/harbour.scot\/homes\/?p=8027"},"modified":"2024-10-01T12:23:24","modified_gmt":"2024-10-01T11:23:24","slug":"pension-credit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/harbour.scot\/homes\/pension-credit\/","title":{"rendered":"Pension Credit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Our <a href=\"https:\/\/harbour.scot\/homes\/your-home\/tenant-advice\/\">Tenant Advice Team<\/a> would like to highlight how Pension Credit could help those over State Pension age with living costs.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is Pension Credit?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Pension Credit gives you extra money to help with your living costs if you&#8217;re over State Pension age and on a low income.<\/p>\n<p>You might get extra help if you&#8217;re a carer, disabled, or responsible for a child or young person. Pension Credit is separate from your State Pension.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Other help available<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you get a Pension Credit, you can also get other help, such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/housing-benefit\">Housing Benefit<\/a>\u00a0if you rent the property you live in<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/winter-fuel-payment\">Winter Fuel Payment<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/apply-for-council-tax-discount\">Council Tax discount<\/a><\/li>\n<li>a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/free-discount-tv-licence\">free TV licence<\/a>\u00a0if you\u2019re aged 75 or over<\/li>\n<li>help with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/help-nhs-costs\">NHS dental treatment, glasses and transport costs<\/a>\u00a0for hospital appointments, if you get a certain type of Pension Credit<\/li>\n<li>help with your heating costs through the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/the-warm-home-discount-scheme\">Warm Home Discount Scheme<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>How much Pension Credit could I get?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Your income is calculate when you apply for Pension Credit (if you have a partner, your income is calculated together).<\/p>\n<p>Pension Credit will top up your weekly income to <strong>\u00a3218.15<\/strong> if you&#8217;re single. If you have a partner, your joint weekly income will be topped up to <strong>\u00a3332.95<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>If your income is higher, you may still be eligible for Pension Credit if you are disabled, you care for someone, you have savings or if you have housing costs.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How to apply for Pension Credit<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You can use the online service if you have already applied for your State Pension. You will need (for you and your partner, if you live with them):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>National Insurance number<\/li>\n<li>details of income and pensions<\/li>\n<li>details of money, savings and investments, usually for the last three months<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a class=\"button button-arrow-bg\" href=\"https:\/\/apply-for-pension-credit.service.gov.uk\/start\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Apply on gov.uk<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Our Tenant Advice Team would like to highlight how Pension Credit could help those over State Pension age with living costs.
