COMMUNITY BENEFIT CASE STUDY: MYDG

By Rachel Hutton

Muirhouse Youth Development Group (MYDG) is a small, dedicated team of youth workers that provide local young people “a positive sense of their own future”. MYDG provides many young people aged 8-25 opportunities to build their confidence and get involved with their local community.

Harbour Connections, with the generous Community Benefit contributions made by suppliers CT and Cullross, has been able to satisfy MYDG’s ‘wish list.’

Cullross improved MYDG’s existing kitchen area, shelving, and storage space: “This has impacted positively on what we are able to offer within our sessions for the young people attending, and has made out kitchen and art room space more youth friendly.”

Having relaunched its own website, accountants and business advisors, CT offered to make MYDG’s website look more professional: “This has been an amazing asset to us and will be great to send to funders. We are youth workers and don’t have any expertise in these elements, so having the connections to people who know what they are doing and really listen to us and our needs, was invaluable.”

CT were impressed with the work done by MYDG: “It’s a genuine pleasure to support an organisation that helps young people to develop themselves and reach their potential. MYDG’s wonderful team and their facilities help people to succeed. From our long experience of working with charities, we know the value extra support can have, and we were excited to be able to help.”

As well as providing training on how to maintain the website, CT generously paid for a year’s hosting of the website.
