The Heart of Newhaven Community Hub has been a beacon of unity and collaboration for the residents of Newhaven and the local area. The hub was established in 2021 with the aim of fostering community engagement, promoting local initiatives, and supporting the well-being of residents. Over the years, it has become a central space for various activities, including workshops, social events, and educational programmes.

The Heart of Newhaven has made a profound impact on the community. It has provided a platform for local artists to showcase their work, encouraged intergenerational activities, and offered support to vulnerable individuals. Through its diverse range of programmes, the hub has facilitated skill-building workshops, mental health support groups, and cultural events that celebrate the rich heritage of the Newhaven area.

Despite its significant role, the community hub faced challenges in maintaining its physical infrastructure.

Mitie Painting and Fabric one of the UK’s largest and leading Painting, Decorating and Fabric work contractors in the UK, offered to provide painting services as part of their Community Benefit obligations. “Over the years we have worked in partnership with Harbour and look forward to working with you in the future.  As always, we are happy to carry out paint works that will benefit the community.” David Grant, Contracts Manager

Mitie committed a team of skilled painters and used top-quality materials to restore the Foyer area of Heart’s Victoria building. Roger Walpole Transition Manager was delighted with the work done by Mitie: “Thank you for making our entrance much more welcoming to all our community.”
