Amenity housing is an excellent option for people who are looking for an easier to manage, more accessible home than they currently live in.
It can be a preferred choice for older individuals or couples who are looking to downsize their home, but who do not require the extra support provided by sheltered or retirement homes.
Where we have amenity homes available, you are welcome to apply if you are over the age of 60. Our flats have adapted features such as lower baths with handles and more accessible electric sockets. They are unfurnished and are mostly one-bedroom, although we do have some with two bedrooms. There are lifts to all floors and a controlled door entry system for added security.
We have some amenity flats in developments across Leith, including Couperfield, Buchanan Street, Elgin Street, Goosander Place/Street and Constitution Street. These amenity flats are for people over the age of 60 and provide accommodation for people who do not want warden support, although support can be provided by other agencies as required.
