New handyperson service at our sheltered housing developments
We’re piloting a new handyperson service to make life a little easier at home. Whether you could use some help with odd jobs or you’re looking for a reliable person to tackle small repairs, help is at hand. You won’t even need to pick up the phone!
What is the handyperson service?
We’ve teamed up with Harbour Multi-Trades who will visit weekly to attend small jobs in your home. Our aim is to tackle small tasks regularly to keep everyone safe at home and prevent issues from becoming more serious. Alan from Harbour Multi-Trades will visit each week and can help you with tasks such as:
- Moving furniture
- Replacing toilet seats
- Changing light bulbs
- Removing rubbish and placing items outside for special uplift
- Fitting lampshades
- Dripping taps
- Setting heating controls
- Fitting grab rails
- Changing shower curtains
- Changing batteries
- Fitting shelves
- Fitting curtain rails
How to request Alan’s help
No need to phone us for small repairs, please report any issues or odd jobs to Suzie, Marian or Martin (your sheltered housing co-ordinator). You can also speak to Alan when you see him around the development.
Who will pay for this service?
This service is free for tenants and the repairs will be covered by us, Harbour Homes. For odd jobs such as fitting a shelf or a curtain rail, you will need to order and pay for the items beforehand so that everything’s ready to be fitted once Alan arrives.
How long will this pilot service run for?
We’re running the handyperson service as a pilot to find out how useful it is to you. The pilot will end in March 2025 and, if successful, we may extend it. We’ll keep you posted!
